PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Whatever your adventure - overlanding, river-tripping, or campground cruising - the most relaxing part of each day is kicking back and telling stories with friends around the fire. What could be better than opening a drink and cooking over a crackling flame under the open sky after a long day on the trail? Make that part of the day even easier with our Helios Firepan. The Helios packs flat and assembles quickly with no tools. Instead of creating a new fire ring everywhere you camp, leave no trace and simply use the Helios to keep your camp tidy and your campfires contained.
Born from experience, the Helios is a nice, balanced size - not so small you can't have a solid fire, but not so large that it is too heavy to use easily. Many rivers now require the use of a firepan, and the Helios meets standard requirements (although not Grand Canyon requirements, which dictate a larger pan). When packed flat in the included carry case, the Helios takes up almost no room - and it only takes seconds to assemble or disassemble.
The Helios isn't just a glorified campfire ring - when ordered with one of the grill options, you can cook for 4-6 people as well! Burgers and brats taste better after a long day outside - trust us. :)
SPECIFICATIONS
Overall dimensions: ~21" long, ~14.5" wide, ~8" tall. Internal fire area dimensions: 19" long, 12.5" wide, 3.25" deep. Transport dimensions: 22" long, 14" wide, 0.75" tall. Weight: ~11.5lbs for the firepan, ~1lb for the grill.
The Helios Firepan, Helios Grill, and the included carry case are all made in the USA. The firepan is laser-cut 14-gauge steel; the grill is 16-gauge steel.
HOW TO USE
Similar to a cast-iron skillet, the Helios should be seasoned before first use in order to preempt rust. Before using the Helios, simply wipe all surfaces down with food-grade oil - shortening works well - leaving a thin film behind. Then, bake the Helios in your oven at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. This creates a layer of polymerized oil on the surface, protecting the steel from corrosion.
To use your Helios Firepan, 1) Assemble the firepan upside down - it's easier. Start with one short end and slot it together with both long ends.
2) Put the floor in by placing the three tabs on each side into the three slots on each long end.
3) Slide the second short end into the remaining slots on the long ends.
4) Flex the short ends over the small tabs on the ends of the floor.
5) Flip the firepan over and pull up on the handles to snap each short end into place with the floor tabs. You're done!
Ongoing maintenance: With use, the Helios may naturally develop areas of surface rust. In this case, simply wipe small areas down with a bit of oil; if large or neglected areas, they may require abrasive removal of rust and re-seasoning.
